May 2nd, 2010 Pres Adams Love set us apart as missionaries. He blessed me with comfort that all would be well at home and that I would be able to accomplish good things while serving. We bore testimony I was prompted to tell each family member to say their prayers. I made a point of hugging each one of them. Christina & Eric and Ethan drove down from Vernal just for the occasion. Bryce was blessed with renewal of health and mind. All the other family attended and came to the house afterward. Blake, Cam and families excluded.
May 3rd. Bethany drove us down to Provo. There is a great feeling here. We went to SLC to the Mexican Consulate to process our Visas. We met Elder & Sister Beck who will be going to Mexico City Temple the same as we. We are so blessed. Studying Preach My Gospel is once again inspiring me I want my family to feel Heavenly Father’s influence in their life. Lasca is suffering. I suggested she ask for guidance and comfort. Bryce is feeling better every day. Elder Bauer from Pleasant View was dropped off at the airport en route to Mozambique. He is Pete & Diane Bauer’s grandson. Scott is his father.
May 4th The general authorities have been inspired with the missionary program and method of teaching the lessons. Give a brief overview of what you want them to know then answer questions and concerns. Elder and Sister Edwards will be serving a full time local mission. It is a pilot program to rescue those who have fallen away. They will be serving in 2 Herriman stakes. The said they knew Gary Bennett. Turns out she is Joannie Bennett’s sister. Lasca is happy today.
May 5th Tonight we practiced Espanol with our tutor. It was fun to be able to speak some to other Spanish speakers. Out of our senior missionary group, those who have been raised in the church are in a minority. There are many very fine missionary couples here. Nearly 400 new young missionaries arrived at the MTC today. The spirit was strong in our teaching practice. We taught the plan of salvation. We saw a statistic from Pres Hinckley from 2004 when there were 300,000 new converts. He said that is great work. It is enough for 200 new stakes but, he said, it is not enough. We must do more. It should be double that. The convert baptism numbers are going up every since Preach My Gospel was put out. Ways of using it have been refined and improved.
May 6th – Today we had a teaching experience as missionaries we taught a less active couple portrayed by Elder and Sister Beck. It was a spiritual experience. We taught that this is the time for us to be happy. That is God’s plan of happiness for his children. We cannot totally lift the burden of sin from our shoulders but because of the atonement Christ paid for our mistakes and “his stripes will heal us.”
